Lived Experience Supervision
The family/carer workforce must be empowered, enabled, and given the space and support to grow as vital members of the Mental Health and Wellbeing workforce.Supervision is a key pillar in ensuring a strong and thriving discipline evolves.
What is supervision?
Supervision in this context “focuses on reflective practice, the impact of the carer’s work, debriefing, and the application of a worker’s unique skills and lived experience in their working environment. It should be a safe space to explore strengths and strategies as well as problem solving issues, challenges, and tensions in the key areas of carer work. Lived experience discipline-specific supervision allows for the development of a relationship based on a shared understanding, where the safety, wellbeing and professional development of the carer’s work is paramount.” Carer Perspective Supervision (September 2021, p.16)
