Lived Experience Supervision

Lived Experience Supervision

The family/carer workforce must be empowered, enabled, and given the space and support to grow as vital members of the Mental Health and Wellbeing workforce.

Supervision is a key pillar in ensuring a strong and thriving discipline evolves.

What is supervision?

Supervision in this context “focuses on reflective practice, the impact of the carer’s work, debriefing, and the application of a worker’s unique skills and lived experience in their working environment. It should be a safe space to explore strengths and strategies as well as problem solving issues, challenges, and tensions in the key areas of carer work. Lived experience discipline-specific supervision allows for the development of a relationship based on a shared understanding, where the safety, wellbeing and professional development of the carer’s work is paramount.” Carer Perspective Supervision (September 2021, p.16)

Let's talk! Let’s talk!

Hi, I’m Andrew, having worked in a designated lived/living experience role I understand the realities of the personal and professional challenges and joys! Working through how to use your own lived experience, whilst the focus remains on the people you are connecting with, or the big picture advocacy you are undertaking, can be a difficult balancing act at times.
